How This Music Is Created
All of this music is created with AI and DI. AI (Artificial Intelligence and DI (Divine Inspiration). I write the lyrics to the songs and program AI to use my words in the song. I can then assign a genre of music, like rock, country, smooth jazz, etc. I select instruments to be used, assign time signature, BPM and emotions and feel of the music, like heartfelt or festive, etc. I can control the voice or instrument melody, add harmonies, counterpart, place interludes and solos, create intros, finales and postludes. I can separate out instruments and vocals to have full control over the music.
When I was first starting out, I would hum or sing the melody, but I don't use my voice much so I soon fatigued out my voice and got a sore throat. I now use a mini keyboard that is wired directly to my computer to create the melody and harmony and some of the chord progressions. It works great. After the song is generated, I have editing to do and conversion of file format for world wide distribution. It is a lengthy detailed process, but hey, I don't have anything else to do.
After the song is created, I can still edit it by changing the words, instruments and most any other part of the song. I am having fun.
I have adapted several writing styles over the years. I almost always write in simple couplets. I like to offer a quick rhyming reward to the listener.
- Story Telling: I started out writing in a story telling literal format. I still use this style a lot. It's clean and easy to follow the story and mission of the song.
- Seinfeld: If I don't have a lot of copy for a song or if I don't have any copy at all, I will use my Seinfeld style of writing. With the Seinfeld style of writing, every line is a complete story within itself. Each line is free standing and not related to any other line.
- Romance: Occasionally, I will weave romance into a song of another subject. I am a romantic.
- Astronomy: Occasionally, I will weave astronomy into a song of another subject. I like and know astronomy.
- Coyote: I use almost everything I do as a ministry to God. My music writing is no different. I have written many Christian albums, hymns and celebration songs, but after releasing them, they are not being played like my jazz, country and other genre of music. So, I use a style of writing called “Coyote”. I write a song in any genre of music other than Christian and I insert single lines of messages that are uplifting and even mention God sometimes into my secular songs.
- Weaving Subjects: I have a graphic designer that I hire frequently for my projects and albums. He once told me, “It is most effective if you have two subjects to weave into a logo instead of just one subject.” For example the Echoing Symphony logo to your upper left of this page. That logo blends music and writing. The writing quil is a musical note dipped into the ink. This logo design technique can also be applied to writing verse. I weave in other sub subjects into my story to create analogies and to make the song more interesting and clever.
- AI and DI: I mentioned earlier that I utilize AI (Artificial Intelligence) and DI (Divine Inspiration) to create my songs. AI is obvious. DI means to me that I pray before writing a song. I even pray to ask for inspiration for a song subject. Before I start writing a song, I pray to God for the words to say, the subject to write about and anything that God wants to give me. Some of my Christmas songs are totally written by God. I am just the earthly vehicle who writes down the words. Also, I pray every day that God will bless my songs and drive them to the people who need to hear them. Songwriting is my ministry.
I have a Premier account with Suno.com to create my AI music. This screen shot is the starting point of creating an AI song. Notice where I enter my lyrics and enter the styles of my song. There are advanced features that are not visible on this screen shot where I can assign a melody and harmony. This is an amazing website for creating AI music. I have full control over creating the song and then there is the Remaster Studio that gives me the ability to remix the song, add and delete parts. I create these songs on my MacBook Pro with headphones.
This is one of the post production editing pages. There are many tools available to edit the tracks.
This is my little keyboard that I can use to assign the melody and harmonies to the song.
This is the iPhone app I use to write all of my songs. I enter a title and I can start writing the verses. With the curser placed at the end of the line, the app will give me the rhyming options for the end of the next line. This app is very helpful for my 76 year old mind.
