Lyrics

Spirit Of The Rain

[Intro]
[hushed drum roll
Soft flutes]
Ho-ya hey-ya
Ho-ya hey-ya
Ho-ya hey-ya
Spirit of the Rain

[Verse 1]
Dust in the cornfield
Cracks in the clay
Cattle ribs showing
Grass blown away
Children watch storms that live in their dreams
Old men remember when rivers would sing

[Chorus]
Ho-ya hey-ya
Spirit of the Rain
Grandfathers
Hear us
Bring the clouds again
Ho-ya hey-ya
Hearts to the sky
Thunder-walkers
Answer when we cry (hey!)

[Verse 2]
Feet on the red earth
Circle in time
Ash in the fire pit
Smoke makes a sign
Drums like the heartbeat under our feet
We call the storm tracks back to this beat

[Chorus]
Ho-ya hey-ya
Spirit of the Rain
Grandfathers
Hear us
Bring the clouds again
Ho-ya hey-ya
Hearts to the sky
Thunder-walkers
Answer when we cry

[Bridge]
Water for the deer
Water for the seed
Water for the elders
Water that we need
Ho-ya hey-ya
Take this song as food
Drink of our dancing
Change this dry mood (oh!)

[Chorus]
Ho-ya hey-ya
Spirit of the Rain
Grandfathers
Hear us
Bring the storms again
Ho-ya hey-ya
Drums never tire
Let your rivers fall like a sky of fire

[Outro]
[drums slow
Distant thunder]
Ho-ya hey-ya
Ho-ya hey-ya
Spirit of the Rain
Come home again
